Palm Beach Resort

After a lot of flip-flops on deciding whether to go out or not last weekend, we finally made it to Manori. Bryan first went off to Pali Hill resort in Uttan as part of his summer camp ( I remembered our days when the parish used to take us all to Gorai) and we collected him from there in the evening before proceeding to Manori.

We had a nice big room for 10 people (there were 2 other couples with us) and of course the "ubiquitous Dojo" trotting around and getting in everyone' way:-) We "captured" one of 4 lofts raised on stilts that are available on first-come-first-served basis and settled with our snacks and drinks. There was a DJ that night and we "shook a leg" (especially us men after feeling invigorated with the liqour). That night, I slept fitfully because I was worried that Dojo would wake up the others (who are not used to having a dog in the same room) and the rascal thought I wanted to play with him! He periodically jumped on my bed and nibbled my toes and made me gasp everytime he dug his cold nose in my side:-) At one time, he started kicking the maid' hair clip around the room and I had to get up and wiggle a finger at him. His response? Snapping at my extended fore-finger playfully!

The next morning involved treats of beer, fish and chicken. There were pool games and I had to literally ask the owners of the resort to drain the pool inorder to get Bryan out of it! We arrived home late evening on Sunday and Dojo seemed relieved to return cause he fell off to sleep immediately, peaceful in the comfort of our home.

Pls don’t bother with palm beach resort. It ‘WAS’ a good joint once upon a time. Now, it’s become seedy. Try going there in the night. Wallah…you can lay bets on which of the guys has the guts to walk the 500 feet off road to the resort. The guys don’t even think its important to put some lights en route to their own place. Btw, this is the only resort in manori islands which doesn’t have a light on its name board on the road. We had to ask the helpful cops and villagers on the way to get there atall in the first place. You can count on ZERO help from people attending the phone at the resort. Its like you decided to come, now its your look out how you get here and how you manage here. Everything is like self service here, since service sucks bigtime.
The owner Ashley dsouza has a sea food restaurant in orlem, but it doesn’t reflect in the food or service here. The place firstly,is packed with mosquitoes, you can’t do anything abt it. If u take non ac, u r doomed. If u take ac, u r doomed..because how long can u sleep with ac and fans on? unless you are an Eskimo? The people are so rude, it’s as if they are doing YOU a favor by taking your money and letting you in. The rules are only for you, nothing for them. Food sucks big-time. Mostly the masala is not even properly cooked in so many dishes. Special requests be dammed...first let’s see if you can get the existing stuff on time. Its a 4 man army at palm beach resort. Total of 4 people serving the whole bloody place. You hav to place yr order an hr in advance in order to get it cold. The staff play hide and seek with guests. U can never catch their eye. Else u walk right across palm beach resort and place the order yourself. I have tried Palm Beach resort in season and offseason. The attitude, service and food are the same. Just the reasons u get are diff all the time. Some are so outrageous like ' diff to get good people' 'expensive to get people' 'people nowadays just don’t like to work' etc etc. These statements are made to take u in confidence by the owner. Its a great place if u are on that kind of a date and want some urgent privacy. Tailor made for that. No one with bother you, no one is interested in you;)

Hello hello,,wait, you still haven’t got to the beach yet..lol. Btw..did I forget to mention that you have to cross a muslim crematory to get to the resort? My sincere apologies. Yes sir, I myself turned my car twice from the crematory which comes before the resort. Thinking that there is a mistake, the resort cant be farther after the crematory. The road after the crematory gets worse. Infact its better till the crematory. Once you reach the resort, follow the experience as stated earlier.
